Gillespie Diesel Services (GDS) was formed in 2003 by the owners of Power Development Services (PDS) in conjunction with Billy Gillespie who gained his generator experience at Barlows S.A.
Power Developments Services is a specialist UPS company formed in 1994 that has installed large UPS solutions for many large corporations, one of the most prestigious sites being the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
GDS has grown steadily over the years and has moved to larger factory in Chloorkop. The new premises has large overhead cranes which has enabled us to drastically increase our production capabilities.
In order to become BBBEE compliant, we decided to form an additional company, Infinity Power. It is 52 % black owned with the major shareholder being William Malau – William has been with the PDS Group since 2001 and has an S3 qualification in electrical engineering. The other 26% black shareholding comprises of a trust made up of group staff who have been employed for longer than 2 years.
GDS specialises in custom building power solutions for it clients throughout Africa. We have a strong service division and thanks to the skills of our sister company, PDS, we’re capable of offering our clients a turnkey power solution. In addition to the supply of both generators and UPS’s, we offer electrical installation, civils and after sales service support.
We pride ourselves in being able to offer a solution tailor made to suit our clients’ requirements – of late we have built a significant number of synchronised parallel generator solutions for large power requirements. This topology not only saves on the initial project CAPEX but also achieves noticeable savings in the long term through improved fuel economy.
